Tenvicon is a leading environmental and social consulting company based in Kampala, Uganda. The company provides environmental testing, environmental and social impact assessments and general health, safety and environmental (HSE) advisory services. The company provides HSE support to contractors, NGOs, businesses, institutions, and governments to manage their environmental, social and governance risks to remain competitive and enhance their brands. Tenvicon helps investors and project developers to secure all the necessary approvals, licenses and permits required by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and other government agencies to implement projects in a timely manner.

14+ years consulting experience assessing and managing environmental safeguards for development projects in Africa and Asia financed by the World Bank/IFC, EU, KfW, AfDB, USAID, JICA, Exim Bank, international NGOs, government ministries, departments and agencies, and the private sector. Served as an Environmental Consultant, Environmental Compliance Advisor, ESIA Team Leader, Lead Auditor, etc. Led several environmental and social impact assessments and compliance audits in various sectors.10+ years providing environmental compliance technical support to USAID contractors (RTI International, DAI, Abt Global, Mercy Corps and DT Global) to ensure activities comply with 22 CFR 216 regulations. Experienced in preparing Reg. 216 documentation (IEE, PERSUAP, Act-PERSUAP, EMMP, ESR, etc.), training project teams, undertaking field environmental compliance monitoring and reporting. Completed environmental screening of 200+ grants under contract and secured USAID environmental approvals. Sectors include WASH, Residual Indoor Spraying (IRS), Agriculture, Nutrition, Natural Resources Management, Livelihoods, etc.Worked as a Short-Term Consultant at the World Bank (Uganda Office) where I provided environmental safeguards support to investment operations through participation in several preparation and supervision missions for investment projects, providing environmental safeguards advice to project Task Managers, and preparing safeguards documentation. Deeply involved in the preparation of the Bank’s Safeguards Portfolio Review for Uganda in 2016 that assessed risks in safeguards compliance.

Projects Manager

Mwerera has over 10 years of experience in the fields of project development, management and evaluation, natural resources management, and environmental audit, Environmental management and regulatory compliance, permitting and environmental impact analyses, watershed management and project evaluations. Mwerera has served private and public clients focusing upon project and program management and the development and implementation of innovative, cost-saving environmental regulatory permitting and compliance strategies. Mwerera has hands-on experiences in design, managing, monitoring and evaluation of development projects.Mwerera has a Master of Science degree in Environment and Natural Resources and Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from Makerere University, a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Monitoring and Evaluation and Master of Business Administration (MBA)-(Management) from Uganda Management Institute (UMI). He is also a Certified Project Manager with PRINCE2 Foundation & Practitioner certification in Project Management equipped with knowledge and skills to manage projects and Programs Successfully.

Hawa Mbabazi, FCCA

Finance & Tax Manager

Hawa is a business consultant specializing in tax planning, financial viability analysis of projects, project financing and cost-benefit analysis. She previously worked for Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) as a tax compliance officer for 15+ years and continues to support several private companies to achieve tax compliance. She leads tax compliance and administration at Tenvicon including filing of returns and fulfilling all our tax obligations. Hawa has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration, post graduate diploma in taxation and revenue administration and a Fellow in Association of Chartered and Certified Accountant (ACCA).

Kenneth Muhumuza

Manager - HSE Services

Kenneth holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering and Management from Kyambogo University and a Post graduate Diploma in project planning and management from the Uganda Management Institute. He has an International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safet by NEBOSH and a Lead Risk Manager by Professional Evaluation and Certification Board (PECB). He is a NEMA Certified Impact Assessor with over 12 years’ experience in environmental monitoring and management, construction health and safety and Risk Management. He has coordinated water quality monitoring and bathymetric survey regimes; advised on compliances to environmental regulations and permitting requirements, developed method statements, management plans as well as implementing best management practices for environmental impact monitoring. He has also been deeply involved in HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention campaigns, Voluntary Counseling and Testing outreaches as well as gender sensitization, monitoring, and reporting.Having worked with several donor aided projects such as the New Nile Bridge Project Agago-Achwa Hydro Power Plant and Kampala Flyover Project, he is well abreast with funder requirements and ensuring that projects adhere to international standards and best practices.

Cultural Heritage Specialist

David has 25+ experience in cultural heritage projects including surveys, management and conservation. He holds a Master of Cultural Management from the University of Turin, Italy. He has Cultural Heritage Impact Assessments for the Makuutu Rare Earth Project, The Tilenga Oil Project in Buliisa, The North–Eastern Road Corridor Asser Management Project (NERAMP), Kabaale Refinery, East African Crude Oil Pipleline (EACOP), Albertine Region Sustainable Development Project (ARSDP), Nyagak III Hydro Power Project, Buganda Kingdom Kasubi Tombs Reconstruction Project, Isimba Hydropower project, and others. He is the Secretary of the Historic Buildings Conservation Trust.

Elizabeth Kaboyo, M.A

Gender and Human Rights Specialist

Elizabeth has 10+years’ work experience in social development, humanitarian and relief sector. She holds a Master’s Degree in Arts-Human Rights (MUK); PGD in Human Resource Management (UMI); BA Social Sciences (MUK). She has worked in Uganda and South Sudan as a Gender and Protection Specialist for leading development partners that include Lutheran World Federation (LWF); Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC); LWF South Sudan Program; Africa Humanitarian Action – (AHA). She has valuable experience in Gender and Vulnerability Assessments focused on empowering and protecting the rights of vulnerable groups. She has offered technical backstopping to NGOs implementing gender and protection interventions, Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention and safeguarding in emergency, recovery and rehabilitation.  In addition, she has strong research and documentation skills in both qualitative and quantitative methods. At Tenvicon, Elizabeth leads all gender, vulnerability and human rights studies.

Didan has 10+ years of practical experience in management of Occupational Health, Safety & Environment in Oil & Gas Industry, Construction, Production /Manufacturing, and Power Plants driving Continuous Improvements in Safe workplace. He holds a NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health. His international experience includes managing OSH aspects for projects in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and in Uganda for the on-going Tilenga project in the Albertine Region. He has experience in Hazard Analysis /Identification, Risk Assessments /Management, Accident/Incident investigation, HSE inspections & Audit, First Aid, CPR/AED Training &Emergency Response, Permit to work systems and Fire Safety training.

Aisha holds a Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering and a Master of Environmental Engineering from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and a PGD in Project Management from Uganda Management Institute. She has 6+ years consulting experience managing environmental, health and safety aspects on large infrastructural projects. She previously worked for CNOOC Safety Technology Services Company in Tianjin, China and most recently as a Consultant at JBN Consults & Planners Ltd. She has worked on several high-profile projects by providing technical guidance on planning and managing environmental health and safety compliance risks. At Tenvicon, Aisha leads all environmental and social impact assessments and risk assessments. She also supports occupational health and safety services and EHSS audits.

Richard Atugonza, MSc

Manager – Environmental Testing Services

Richard holds an MSc in Environmental Science & Natural Resources and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management both from Makerere University. His research experience involved assessing exposure of individuals to smoke pollution in rural settings in Uganda. He has over 7 years’ experience in testing services for environmental impact assessments and compliance audits/ monitoring. He holds a NEBOSH certificate in occupational health and safety. His interests include ambient air quality testing, noise, vibrations, and acoustics assessments and technical writing. At Tenvicon, Richard leads all environmental testing services, equipment hire and calibration. He also leads analysis of test results and writing of testing reports.

Ivan holds a Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources Economics from Busitema University with significant hands-on experience in experience in GIS and remote sensing. At Tenvicon, he supports teams in developing project maps and generating GIS data.
